Korean can feel easier

Korean slang, memes and daily life in short funny stories

Korean feels fast.
Let’s make it click.

Funny audio stories built around the Korean words and jokes everyone repeats. Hear the scene, catch the word, say it back. No Hangul needed to begin.

For the moments you freeze

You know a few words.
Then Korean starts moving.

You catch the first phrase, miss the next one, and smile while your brain searches for an answer. koreanlol gives that moment a story, a pause, and another chance.

A note from your teacher

Hi, I’m Eric Jinwoo Park.

In 2012 I developed Hangulish, a way to see Korean sounds through letters you already know. I taught it in person to hundreds of students, free of charge.

Many of them told me they loved learning this way. That is why I’m sharing it online as koreanlol: patient, story-led practice that helps you listen, understand, and find the words to say back. It is my own teaching experience, not a research study.

My aim is to make the hard parts easier to face, so you can keep listening, speaking, and moving toward fluent Korean.

The visual side · Hangulish

Meet Korean through sound and shape.

Start with a name you already know. Hangulish is my reading aid: it writes Korean sounds with Latin letters, so you can see how a name like 정국 is built. Every Hangul block has three seats: a first sound, a vowel and an ending. Hangulish writes the consonants with Latin letters and keeps the Hangul vowel where it is. It is not standard Korean; Hangul is the real alphabet. Start by listening; explore the letters whenever you’re ready.

How an episode works

One story.
Five ways to hear it.

No giant vocabulary list. You hear one moment five times, from a different angle each time.

A short, funny scene from real Korean life.

02

Catch the words

Four useful words from the scene, each with a quick punchline.

03

Answer the questions

04

Say it casual

The same moment in friend talk (반말).

05

Say it formal

Now in formal polite Korean (합니다체).

Every episode also comes with a workbook (PDF) that shows each Korean line in Hangul and in Hangulish.
